Krishna Camp is a community effort of like-minded souls who share a burning desire to find shelter and provide peace in an age of increasing strife. Join this enthusiastic group of devotees on their voyage into the adventurous world known as Burning Man.

Tens of thousands of people gather to create a virtual city of lights, sounds, flames, and the most amazing creations you’re likely to set eyes upon.

Into the middle of the Black Rock desert of Nevada, a few brave friends hauled truckloads of goods, equipment, and heart to bring Krishna Camp to life. It was a community of bright minds and spiritual smiles.

Watch as devotees create a thirty-foot-tall replica of the ancient temple of Lord Jagannatha at Puri, India, and conduct a unique Burning Man-style Rathayatra chariot procession. Experience all this and more from the devoted volunteers at Krishna Camp and Burning Man.

Love your Mother this Valentine’s Day February 12, 2007

Mother Earth

This valentines day, show your mother how much you love her. All of our lives, she has been unconditionally caring for us, giving us food, shelter, clothing, and so many other beautiful gifts. She has been unconditionally loving us all this time, and chances are you have just been using her and taking her love for granted.

Unfortunately all of our exploitation and ungratefulness has caused her to become sick. She has a bad fever and it is getting worse. This is a perfect opportunity for us to show her our love. Heres how:

According to a report recently released by the University of Chicago becoming vegetarian does more to reduce greenhouse gas emissions then driving a hybrid vehicle. This means that simply by abstaining from the consumption meat products, we are helping to reduce the fever ravaging mother earth. And it’s easy. Many of us are forced to drive cars in order to go about our daily lives, and most are unable to afford hybrid vehicles. It is almost impossible to give up the use of electricity, and it would be a bit too cold for comfort (those who spent any time in the Midwest over the past few weeks can relate with this) if we stopped using natural gas to heat our homes.

Meat, however, is in no way necessary for human survival or comfort. In fact, we are able to survive better without it. Many studies have proven the undeniable health and econonmic benefits of a vegetarian diet. You will feel happier, healthier, lighter, and more lovable. Cost is not a problem here either, as vegetarian foods are in general cheaper then meat.So this valentines, show your love for mother earth, as well as all of your sisters and brothers (as my father always used to say “if mama aint happy, aint nobody happy”), by becoming vegetarian. Dont just talk love, act love. Take a veggie vow for at least a week, or a month, or a year, or forever. Show the world that you really do care.

A New Years Revolution January 8, 2007

A New Years Revolution

You say new years, I say new fears.
You say resolution, I say revolution.

Having fallen from the precipice of 2006 into the uncharted valley of 2-double-o-7, you may find yourself contemplating the upcoming year. You may even be one of the fashionable citizens of this earth planet who likes to make new years resolutions; might I suggest swapping a ‘v’ for the ‘s’? However, don’t take this the wrong way. It is with all humility and deference that I submit this significantly minor modification for your consideration. I don’t mean to impose and I certainly do not doubt that you have a deep and meaningful resolution. Nor do I assume any inability to abide by it for more than 3 weeks. It is not like that. I have full faith in the acumen and determination of the average consumer. Their great depth of knowledge and foresight have been proven time and again, as has their propensity to always act for the ultimate well being of present and future generations. (I write this as a 60 degree January breeze blows through my Northern United States window. In fact I haven’t even seen snow all year.) (more…)
